Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson were a popular British husband-and-wife team of entertainers during the 1950s and early 1960s.
Edward Victor Johnson, who was known as Teddy Johnson (born September 4, 1920) was a singer, dancer and all-round musician. Together with his wife, Pearl Carr, he represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1959; they came second with the song, "Sing, Little Birdie". Teddy's brother, Bryan Johnson was also a singer, and represented the UK the following year in the Eurovision Song Contest 1960. He also came second, with the song "Looking High High High". Pearl Lavinia Carr, who is known as Pearl Carr (born Exmouth, Devon 2 November 1923) was a singer, comedienne, dancer and the partner of her late husband Teddy Johnson. They appeared in a West End revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Follies". |
