Now that just about everybody in the pop universe, living or dead, has licensed their music to iTunes, Rhapsody, or another legal download service, what excuses do those remaining holdouts give for not making their songs available for online purchase? In the forthcoming issue of EW,
Michael Endelman and Alanna Nash look at the reasons given by five offline acts and assess the likelihood that they'll change their ways anytime soon. Most surprising likely converts: Napster-hatas Metallica, whose individual songs may be available within a year. Radiohead are a lot less likely to break up their albums into song downloads, while you shouldn't expect to hear the libraries of the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or Garth Brooks anytime soon.
