This just in at PopWatch HQ: Failure is hot! But don't take it from me: A quick perusal of your weekend entertainment options tells the tale. And I'm not just saying this because Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey are opening in (Ahem.) Read on: -Tonight is the season finale of the awesomely addictive Battlestar Galactica (SciFi, 10 p.m.), a series that has somehow failed to gain the attention of Emmy voters. Shameful! -Matt Dillon (pictured) failed to win an Oscar last Sunday night for his role in Crash; but that won't stop him from hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend (NBC, 11:30 p.m.). (Wonder if he'll rap?) Dillon's brothers-in-failure, the Arctic Monkeys, may have scored an A- in the pages of EW, but they failed to debut in the Billboard top 20 in their first week on the charts. (They also failed to make the list of the top-5 American albums of all time. But nonetheless, the kids are all right.) -The Sopranos returns Sunday night (HBO, 9 p.m.), and while EW's Dalton Ross fails to tell us who's getting whacked on the season premiere (come on now, he's no spoiler!), his Q&A with the cast is a must-read for fans of HBO's long-running drama. (For your ''Mafia name,'' click here. Just call me ''Green Oscar Ricci.'') -Jodi Picoult's latest novel, The Tenth Circle, is about ''a family in full collapse,'' writes EW's Whitney Pastorek, who gives the novel an A. In other words, the characters might be considered -- wait for it -- personal failures! |
