Hezbollah's chief Hassan Nasrallah said that calls for national dialogue talks are "premature," but added that he was open to meetings with allies in an attempt to end the political impasse in Lebanon. His comments came as the Shiite group was commemorating the killing of two senior Hezbollah officials by Israel in 1987 and 1992, on Friday. Nasrallah said in a speech Friday he welcomed bilateral meetings "between a leader of the other party and a leader of the opposition. Bilateral meetings could be an effort leading to opening gaps" in the ongoing power struggle. But the Hezbollah leader said that the National Opposition was not ready to hold talks with leaders of the pro-government March 14 alliance. "We trust our allies," Nasrallah said in the speech. "Any leader of an opposition can represent us without hesitation," he added. Surprising, Nasrallah said his group was ready to give the Lebanese army weapons, but warned against using them against Lebanese civilians. "My brethren and I are ready to give the army multiple folds of weapons, but we will not forgive anyone for usurping a bullet," the Hezbollah chief said, adding that his group had no interest in attacking the United Nations military force in Lebanon. Hezbollah has gained much power since last summer's month-long war against Israel, which the Shiite group claimed as a "divine victory" over Israel.
