Maria's new album features eight songs in the Egyptian dialect.  She worked with Lebanese composers Zaher Al Baba and Talal Qantar on the album, as well as Egyptian composer Sharif Taaj who presented her with the composition for the song "Nefertiti."

Production Company ‘Al Sabki’ has reached an agreement with Maria, known as the ‘corn flakes singer,’ for a leading role in a new film.

‘Al Sabki’ cast the singer Marwa in the film "Haha and Tufaha," benefiting from her daring personality, and now hopes to do that same with Maria. Maria is expected to take part in a number of different films.

Verbal disputes broke out between controversial Lebanese singers Danna and Maria several months ago at a birthday party they both attended as guests, motivated by mutual jealousy.

Maria believed that Danna achieved more success under director Jad Shweiri than she did and felt threatened.

Rumors claim that Maria intends to marry Kuwaiti actor Mohammad Bushahri on the condition that she resign and wear a Hijab, an Islamic headdress.
