Lebanese singer Maya Nasri has headed off to Tunisia to film an episode for the television program “Al Laila Laila” (Tonight’s the Night) and which will be aired on Saturday November 18. On the program, Maya talks about her latest entertainment activities and sang a number of her most popular hits. According to the London based Elaph, the Tunisian television channel “Hannibal” also organized for an interview with Nasri, which the singer arrived at on time a matter that is unusual for today’s stars. Maya talked with the Tunisian media with the utmost respect and thanked them for their interest in her. With regards to her new film “Abiad Aswad” (White and Black), Maya stated that she is very happy for having the opportunity to act and to star alongside Egyptian actor Mustafa Shabaan. She revealed that she will record two songs for the film once she returns to Egypt, and the special music video for it will be aired in the near future on most television satellite channels. Maya said that the film’s title is subject to change because the producer is in favor of having a simple title. In the film, Maya plays the role of a girl from a rich family, who finds herself alone and broke after all her family dies, and she is forced to work as an aerobic instructor. Maya is the first singer to have turned down an invitation to sing at the Carthage Festival alongside Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker, despite the fact that it would have been her first time in the prestigious event. The singer had made the decision due to the fat that Lebanon was going through a ruthless war with Israel and such circumstances forbade her from holding any entertaining activity. With regards to the Israeli website that considered Maya to be the most popular and admired singer, the singer stated that she could care less what Israelis think and does not consider it an honor to have them admire them. She added that she believes Palestine is a state and dreams of the day it becomes free of Israeli occupation. © 2006 Al Bawaba |
