Egyptian actor Izzat Abu Ouf refused to accept the skepticism regarding the criteria used to choose actress Yusra to be amongst the stars that are to be honored at the Thirtieth International Cairo Cinema Festival, which is scheduled to be launched at the end of November. According to the London based Elaph, the criticism was not so much due to her nomination to be honored, but rather due to her being a member of the higher committee for the festival that is in charge of supervising every details of the event. Izzat stated that Yusra had come a long way and her being part of the committee and finding time to do it is in itself enough for her honoring. He added that in addition the achievements she has achieved in the acting world and her contributions make her one of the most respected actresses in the history of Egyptian cinema. Yusra is studying the teaching of Islam and may begin wearing a Hijab, an Islamic headdress. Rumors claim she may even resign from acting. This news has lead people to watch her latest television drama, that was screened on Arabic satellite television channels during the holy month of Ramadan. A number of production companies used this same tactic to promote their dramas amidst high competition during the Ramadan season. A shocking rumor about a star is leaked to spark viewer interest. © 2006 Al Bawaba |
