MOSCOW, October 25 (Itar-Tass) - President Vladimir Putin said the latest attacks on the Israeli president, the prime minister and the chief of General Staff are explained by inadmissible methods of political struggle in the country. Answering one of the questions in Wednesday’s televised conference with the nation, President Putin said, “I believe that the sexual assault accusations against Israel’s president are linked to the fact that most Israeli citizens are dissatisfied with the leadership’s actions during the Lebanese conflict. Many people consider this fact a defeat. Just after this the attacks have begun on the president, the prime minister and the chief of General Staff.” “In my view, it is absolutely inadmissible to use such instruments as women’s right protection in order to solve political problems that have no relation to this. This discredits an important task of struggling for women’s rights,” President Putin said. Commenting on speculations by certain journalists who cover his meeting with the Israeli prime minister, Putin said, “In regard to representatives of mass media I can say we joked when I worked in the other organisation – they’ve been sent to peep, but they’re eavesdropping.” |
