Don't look at the accompanying photo for a second. Keep your eyes right here, on the text. I know it's difficult, with such square-chinned manliness a mere eye-twitch away. But play along: Who is, as of this moment, in both the top movie and the top TV show in the nation?

I'll give you a hint: He pioneered TV's first interautomotive romance with a fey black Trans-Am. Some years later, with Baywatch, he freed the color Hot Orange from the iron grip of the construction industry and thrust it into the forefront of style. Most recently, he consecrated Taylor Hicks' American Idol victory with steaming, heterosexual tears.

Give up? It's David Hasselhoff. (If you didn't cheat, this is a delightful surprise. If you did cheat, well, now you know true joylessness.)

Yes, with Click riding high (he plays Sandler's slimy boss) and America's Got Talent topping the Nielsens (he's a judge), Hasselhoff seems to be bouncing back from a year dominated primarily by his ugly divorce. (His Excellency Regis Philbin calls Hasselhoff "a great big guy with a heart of gold" -- what kind of jerkface activist judge wouldn't consider that an instant exoneration?)

But far more fascinating that Hasselhoff's resurgence are these trivia morsels, revealed in a Q&A with USA Today:

1. There is, apparently, a David Hasselhoff musical. "I've already arranged and written it with the guys who did Chicago," he says. Wha....? Really? Kander and Ebb? Isn't one of them dead? Verily, anything is possible with Hasselhoff.

2. And then there's the country that most loves Hasselhoff. Yeah, you know the one. Or do you? According to Google (says Hasselhoff), it's Ireland. He says Germany came in third on Hasselhoff searches. So who's number two? My guess: The Hasselhoff Mansion, which, like the Vatican, is technically its own country. But feel free to correct me below.
