Mustaqbal Movement leader Saad Hariri on Monday accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of "searching for reasons to block the normalization of relations with Lebanon."
Hariri, in a statement, also accused the Assad regime of "infiltrating extremists to north Lebanon to carry out terrorist attacks targeting the Lebanese Army and civilians."
He said a recent deployment of Syrian troops off Lebanon's northern borders aims at "horrifying Lebanon."
"How many soldiers Syria deploys along the borders with Israel?" Hariri asked.
Assad's recent remarks are "direct threats to Lebanon's sovereignty and to the province of north Lebanon," Hariri said.
He urged the Arab League to "shoulder its responsibility regarding Lebanon by dispatching an Arab team to check the borders with Syria." |
