John Travolta was born on February 18th, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey. Ever since he was a child, Travolta has been obsessed with acting. He took his first step when he joined an actor's group and started performing in dinner theatres. For the sake of acting, Travolta ultimately left high school by the age of 16 and went to Manhattan to start his acting career.

In 1973, Travolta started off with a role in The Andrew Sisters. It wasn't until 1975 that Travolta's star shone when he played the role of Vinnie Barbarino; a high school lothario. Yet, Saturday Night Fever is considered Travolta's first hit movie. It brought Travolta many nominations; like The Academy Award and The Golden Globe. He also won the Best Actor Award in the National Board of Review.

The movie opened the doors of fame for Travolta and in 1978 he played Danny Zuko in the famous musical hit movie Grease. 1978 also witnessed his first drop when he appeared in the romance Moment by Moment.

Travolta started regaining his stardom in the 1980's when he played the role of a Texas oil worker in Urban Cowboy. The late 1980's was not a fruitful period in his career though; he played a number of movies that were either unrecognized or forgotten as time went by.

It was the comedy Look Who's Talking that brought him back to his audience at the end of 1989. Due to the huge popularity and major financial success of the movie, he made a pair of sequels which were Look who's Talking Too in 1990 and Look Who's Talking Now in 1993.

In 1994, Quentin Tarantino introduced Travolta to a new movie genre through his movie Pulp Fiction. The gangster and drama movie introduced the actor in a new character; namely Vincent Vega.

In 1996, Travolta starred as an ex-Air Force Commander who steals a nuclear weapon in John Woo's hit adventure movie Broken Arrow. Travolta returned in that same year in yet another action and Drama movie; Face Off, once again with John Woo and co-starring Nicholas Cage . In later years, he had different roles in various movies like She's So Lovely, Mad City, and Primary Colors where he played the role of the US president.

Travolta kicked off the millennium with his sci-fi thriller Battlefield Earth. 2001 witnessed his other Gangster and Thriller movie Swordfish where he plays the role of Gabriel Shear; a man who is trying to access secret information about the government locked on a complicated computer system.

Travolta returned in 2004 with 3 movies; The Punisher, A Love Song for Bobby Long and Ladder 49. Travolta's latest movie; the comedy Be Cool, was recently released. In the movie, the star plays the role of a Hollywood producer who abandons the movie industry and becomes the promoter of a struggling singer who is being hunted down by the Russian mafia.
