Arab League chief Amr Moussa confirmed to An Nahar daily that he will arrive in Beirut on Monday and meet with President Michel Suleiman to agree on ways to run the national dialogue.
"This is the start of dialogue…It is healthy (to see) all of Lebanon's leaders meeting and putting all political problems on the table," Moussa told the newspaper in remarks published Friday.
An Nahar said that Speaker Nabih Berri and Premier Fouad Saniora were among the first to receive an invitation from Suleiman to attend the national dialogue session that will be held at Baabda Palace at 11:00 am Tuesday.
The conference which will group 14 leaders will discuss the country's defense strategy.
An Nahar quoted informed sources as saying that Moussa's participation in the all-party talks is aimed at helping the dialogue's success similar to the positive results reached in Doha last May.
Sectarian clashes in May left at least 65 dead and brought the country close to fresh all-out conflict before feuding political parties struck an agreement in Doha.
The accord led to Suleiman's election as president and the formation of a national unity cabinet. |
