After a hard day at home or in the office-or maybe both-nothing sounds or feels better than a nice, hot bath. Baths treated with the correct combination of natural products can relax, soothe, rejuvenate, moisturize, and treat problems like dry skin and sunburns. Listed below are several recipes that will leave you feeling refreshed and smelling fantastic.

Lovely Lavender Bubble Bath

Blend 1 quart distilled or purified water, 1 bar unscented (chipped or grated) soap, 2 tbsp. glycerin and 3 drops lavender fragrant or essential oil. Store in an airtight container with lid and pour under running water. Rinse well after soaking.

Refreshing Almond Body Bath

Place 1 cup epsom salts and 1/2 cup coarsely ground kosher or sea salt into a large resealable plastic bag. Add 5 drops almond oil, shaking bag to mix between each drop. Add 1/2 cup to running water as you prepare your bath. Rinse well after soaking.

Moisturizing Skin Bath

Add geranium essential oil to your bath or use in a steam bath to balance the skin and regulate sebum secretion. At night, add two drops each of sandalwood and rose essential oils in 20 ml carrier oil to moisturize your skin as you sleep.

Soothing Bath Oil

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbsp. honey, 1/2 cup baby or mineral oil, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 2 tsp. liquid soap, 1/4 cup vodka, and fragrant oil of your choice in a blender for 30 seconds. Drop 1 to 2 tbsp. of this oil into your bath and allow yourself to relax! Keep refrigerated in a covered container for 3 to 4 days, then discard.

Relaxing Chamomile Bath

Place a handful of dried chamomile blossoms into a piece of netting, lace, or nylon stocking and tie closed with a ribbon or string. Add sachet to your hot bathwater and soak in the fragrant warmth for 20 to 30 minutes.

Rejuvenating Bath

Sprinkle 2 tbsp. of comfrey flowers into your hot bath as the water runs. Add 2 drops of rosemary oil and soak for 20 minutes. Rinse well.

Sunburn Relief Bath

Puree 1 cucumber in blender and pour into ceramic bowl. Add 4 cups oatmeal, 10 black tea bags, and 2 tbsp. rosemary leaves and mix well. Pour contents of bowl into bath under running water. Soak for 1 hour and rinse well. Recipe makes 1 bath.

Mango After-Bath Spritz

Combine 1 1/2 cups water, 1/4 cup witch hazel and 1/4 cup aloe vera gel in a bottle, cover, and shake until mixture dissolves. Pour into a transparent spray bottle; add several drops of mango essential oil and a sprig of fresh rosemary. Use as an after-bath or shower spritz.

Herbal Bath Powder

Combine 1 tbsp. dried chamomile flowers, 1 tsp. dried lavender flowers, 1/4 cup cornstarch, and 1 tbsp. orrisroot in a bowl. Let mixture sit in a sealed jar overnight to allow scents to permeate powder, then sift and store in a bath powder box or powder shaker.

Keeping Skin Moist and Beautiful

Sometimes even the best moisturizer just isn’t enough! Avoid dry skin by blotting or dabbing your skin with a towel after you shower and allowing just a little water to stay on your skin. Apply moisturizer and massage into your damp skin; the emollient will trap some of the water in your skin and provide that extra bit of moisture.
