Commander of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon Maj. Gen. Claudio Graziano said that Hizbullah recognizes U.N. resolution 1701 while Israel continues to violate the decision which ended a 34-day offensive on Lebanon.

He told reporters in New York that Israel continues to violate Lebanese airspace.

Graziano said Israel's ongoing occupation of the Ghajar area of south Lebanon and its refusal to provide locations of unexploded cluster munitions are also other violations of U.N. resolutions.

He said that the U.N. mission had been successful in carrying out its mandate in maintaining the ceasefire that went into effect in 2006, stressing that the mission's presence was vital in ensuring stability in the area.
