President Michel Suleiman issued a decree Wednesday calling on parliament to convene in an extraordinary session from Aug. 19 till Oct. 20.
Parliament's secretariat received the decree in which Suleiman calls for the legislature to meet based on Premier Fouad Saniora's suggestion and under clauses 33 and 86 of the constitution.
The decree said parliament will discuss during the extraordinary session the 2006, 2007 and 2008 state budget projects as well as other draft laws referred to it.
Parliament convenes twice a year in two ordinary sessions -- the first starts mid-march until the end of May and the second from the middle of October through the end of December. |
