Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri interrupted a foreign tour and returned to Beirut Friday declaring that obstacles that had prevented the formation of a new cabinet are over.
Berri reportedly told visitors "it wasn't worth all this delay. The cabinet could have been formed two weeks ago."
Berri expected the "job to be done on Saturday."
He expressed satisfaction with Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's recent press conference, noting that "responses to it were good. This sets the stage for reconciliation."
Berri also expressed belief that there would be no differences regarding the cabinet's policy statement "that would be based on the former policy statement, the Doha Accord and President Michel Suleiman's oath address." |
