The Lebanese Army command announced Wednesday that troops are patrolling the remote Sannine highland to "reassure citizens and make sure the situation is sound."
The short statement said the move followed what had been recently circulated by the media and "a number of politicians" regarding security problems in the Sannine highland sector. It did not disclose further details.
The move followed reports that Hizbullah gunmen had intercepted civilians vacationing in the area, kidnapped and interrogated them before setting them free at a later stage. |
