A new earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Srifa and neighboring villages in south Lebanon Friday, causing no casualties.

A similar earthquake, followed by a series of aftershocks, rocked south Lebanon the day before, sparking panic among the population.

Minor damage was reported from Thursday's 6.0-magnitude tremor.

The state-run National News Agency said several aftershocks registered 3.0 following Thursday's quake.
