UEFA has denied a claim made on Italian television that it did not allow a minute's silence for former Polish international Adam Ledwoń at tonight's UEFA EURO 2008™ Group B match between Austria and Poland in Vienna.
No request made
UEFA wishes to emphasise that the normal procedure would be for an official request to be made for a minute's silence by the relevant national association. In this particular case, the Polish Football Association did not ask UEFA for a minute's silence to be observed at the match to honour Ledwoń, who passed away in Austria this week at the age of 34. |
