U.S. President George Bush on Thursday nominated career senior diplomats to be U.S. ambassadors to Lebanon and Djibouti, the White House announced in a statement. Bush has picked Michele Sison, the current charge d'affaires in Beirut and a past ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, to be the top U.S. diplomat in Lebanon. And the president has chosen James Christopher Swan, deputy assistant secretary of state for African affairs, to the post in Djibouti. Swan has also served as director for African analysis in the State Department's intelligence branch and as deputy chief of mission in Kinshasa. Both nominations require U.S. Senate approval.(AFP) |
