The Jamaa Islamiya on Wednesday said a parliamentary session scheduled for May 13 should result in electing a president.
The stand by the group, which is Lebanon's chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood, was outlined by its politburo member Assaad Harmoush after talks with Mustaqbal Movement leader Saad Hariri. Harmoush also criticized as "procrastination" the delay by parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in responding to a request by Hariri to set a date for consultations aimed at resuming dialogue. "Such a requested meeting is a basic intro to opening channels of communication leading to the election of a president on May 13," Harmoush stressed. |
