Assad to Hoss: Ready to Help 'Brethren'

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Tuesday told ex-Premier Salim Hoss Damascus is prepared to help the "Lebanese brethren." The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said Assad received Hoss and discussed with him "political developments in the Lebanese arena and efforts exerted to settle the crisis in Lebanon." Assad, SANA reported, "reaffirmed Syria's readiness to provide whatever possible help that the Lebanese brethren may request." The terse report did not disclose further details.
