The leader of Hizbullah's parliamentary bloc, Mohammed Raad, on Friday complained to Kuwait's Parliament Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi against attacks targeting Imad Mughniyeh.
Raad, in a cable to Kharafi, said the 14-member bloc was "offended" by statements released by "some legislators, ministers and media outlets in Kuwait towards a great commander of the Islamic resistance who had been assassinated by Israel's Mossad after playing a major role in defending Lebanon and liberating its land." "We had expected solidarity in denouncing Zionist terror and we did not expect a trial in absentia of a man who had brought pride to the nation of Arabs and Muslims," Raad added in his cable, text of which was distributed by the state-run National News Agency (NNA). The Mughniyeh controversy broke out after the so-called Kuwaiti Hizbullah organized a mourning for the slain Hizbullah official terming him a "martyr" while others blamed him for the hijacking of two Kuwaiti jetliners and the killing of three Kuwaiti citizens in the 1980s in addition to sponsoring a wave of bombings in the emirate. |
