Is Lindsay Lohan the next Parker Posey? Might she be the most ubiquitous star at next year's Sundance? Hard to believe, but the answer may be yes.'
Variety reports that she's signed on to do her sixth indie film in a row, a Cyrano-esque romantic comedy called Speechless opposite Adrien Brody and directed by Brian Dannelly (Saved). That film follows her turns in Robert Altman's Prairie Home Companion, where she plays opposite Meryl Streep; Emilio Estevez's ensemble drama Bobby, in which she plays a Vietnam War bride opposite Elijah Wood; Chapter 27, a story about John Lennon's murderer (Jared Leto); Georgia Rule, where she'll play daughter to Felicity Huffman and granddaughter to Jane Fonda; and Bill, opposite Aaron Eckhart. Give her credit for savvy strategizing; nothing will cleanse the tarnish of her tabloid headlines like convincing people she's a serious thespian, and nothing will do that like starring in six indie movies in a row opposite other serious thespians. Oh, one more tip, Lindsay: Serious thespians don't get within a mile of Wilmer Valderrama. |
