A source from the Iraqi Foreign Affairs Ministry said Iraqi singer Shatha Hasoon, winner of ‘Star Academy,’ will be issued a diplomatic passport in Baghdad even tough she is outside of Iraq.
Several members of the Iraqi football team, who won the Asia tournament, requested diplomatic passports but their requests are still on hold. The Ministry requires that all recipients be present in Baghdad in order to receive their passports. The Iraqi Prime Minister issued the order granting the team passports. According to the London daily Elaph, Hasoon, 26, won first prize in ‘Star Academy’s’ fourth season in April. The show was very popular throughout the Arab world, especially among young listeners. Over 40% of the audience voters come from Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia. Hasoon has an Iraqi father and a Moroccan mother. |
