The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Monday that Israeli troops have kidnapped a Lebanese shepherd who was identified as Fadi Abdula'al.
A UNIFIL Spokeswoman was quoted by the state-run National News Agency (NNA) as saying the peace force was in contact with the Israeli army to "handle the issue as soon as possible." The NNA report said Premier Fouad Saniora, prior to his departure for the United Arab Emirates, followed up the issue of kidnapping a Lebanese citizen from the outskirts of Halta village and held contacts in this regards with the Lebanese Army Command and UNIFIL. Saniora, the report said, "asked UNIFIL to hold the needed contacts with Israel to achieve the release of the Lebanese citizen. The premier stressed: "This aggression is a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a provocative act by Israel that cannot be tolerated." |
