Syria has suspended diplomatic co-operation with France on ending the political crisis in Lebanon, after similar action by Paris.
Nicolas Sarkozy, French president, said at the weekend that Paris was halting diplomatic contact with Syria over what he described as Damascus's failure to show it was working for a consensus solution in Lebanon.
Lebanon is in a deadlock over the election of a new president. It has been without a head of state since the previous, pro-Syrian, president's term ended on November 24. |
