Try these simple combination lifts to build strength, shed fat, and perform better
Before yet another ugly fitness trend takes hold, I hereby command all men w ho are performing sumo squats while curling 10-pound dumbbells to stop -- and listen up. I don't blame you. Maybe you've heard trainers say that adding an arm curl to a squat "gives you more bang for your buck!" These men are butchers. Combination exercises -- two or more moves blended together -- are intended to work a ton of muscle mass and save time. I use them with every athlete I train, because they build muscle, burn fat, and shake up stale routines. But the key is choosing exercises that don't limit the amount of weight you can use or disturb a movement's flow. Here are three of my favorite combination routines. You can use any of them as your total-body workout three times a week. And feel free to mix it up. Just don't let me catch you with a pair of 12's, doing a deadlift with a triceps kickback... www.menshealth.com |
